Fast and concentrated on 1 specific problem only (Ian Hubert, Royal Skies LLC...)
Anonymous at Tue, 4 Jan 2022 15:04:53 UTC No. 873802
Record first, add narration after. I hate it when someone starts babbling and making mistakes, going back and forth and redoing a thing over and over while babbling nonsense. So the opposite of this is the good one
Anonymous at Tue, 4 Jan 2022 15:26:56 UTC No. 873804
Short and concise is best; long-form but well-presented is good too.
I can pause Royal Skies if he's going too fast.
I can 2x long tutorials if they're too slow, but still have good information and presentation, like Donutguru.
But even 2x is usually too slow for, "Hey guys, um, welcome to my, um ... Blender tutorial for, um ... fluid, uh, simulation ... uh ... uh ... I'm uh just doing this live so uh sorry for any mistakes and uh let's uh just get right into it, uh, but first ..."

Some actually think this is a great way to make tutorials since they think it also teaches you how to deal with problems that might pop up. Even actual teachers do this. Some may be fine with this but others hate it.

Hey welcome to this ADVANCED RIGGING tutorial.
Now this is the default scene so select everything by dragging a square to select all the objects and press x to delete them and click to confirm. You can also double tap a to select everything and press the del key. Press control+z to undo. Now this is your default workspace, you can split the different areas by right clicking on their border and selecting horizontal or vertical split. Horizontal split splits the area horizontally while the vertical split option splits the area vertically like so. You can also position your mouse cursor at one of the corners of the area and click and drag to split it it like that. To close an area you can right click its border and chose Join Areas.
That's it for part 1! In part two of the ADVANCED RIGGING tutorial we'll go over the outliner and I will also teach you about saving and opening your files.

how the fuck is something like that a "good tutorial" for you? there is literally no reason to watch something like that with the huge amount of sources to choose from nowadays.

I actually hadn't seen many like this in a while but back in 2015-2016 it was either 5 minutes of pajeet or 45 minutes of
>uh ehhhm ummmm ehmmm so we... uhh... press this... no... wait... that's a mistake... uhhhhh.... uh.....
it's actually surprising how much good shit had been uploaded to yt in the past 5 years

Yeah those are hate inducing. If I can't find an alternative quick I'll just mute it and skip through the video watching without sound until I got the concept and fuck off

Dikko for humanoid stuff
I went into that field as a complete noobie and his tutorials brought me through all the concepts at a follow able pace.
I'm not great at 3d humanoids but I've never taken an anatomy or drawing course or anything.
Default cube is my favourite in general though, just short and simple.

People who do these want get viewers of those who don't like being called beginner while actually still are absolute beginners.
Those tutorials work for them since they're entry level shit AND they don't feel like the noobs they are so in the end they'll keep return to that channel because it made them feel good.
It's all false advertising now to generate views. So many examples of that. And don't get me started on shit like
>A WHOLE CITY LANDSCAPE IN 20 MINUTES!!11
(20 minutes video about importing free assets)
or
>COMPLETE CHARACTER SPEED SCULPTING!!1
(time lapse)

Ian Hubert's tutorials are top-tier for producing cheap realism with photos and shader tricks. He makes shit seem so easy and it's motivating to go and try it yourself.

Also, his talk on worldbuilding is phenomenal:

How long did it take you guys to become proficient enough at 3D modeling to make an animated character in a scene on your own, and how apt would you say you are in general?
