90 Billion Dollar franchise; still leaves untextured polygons on their characters. What's your excuse for not working in the industry if these are the standards they strive for?

Gzamefreak makes the pokemon games tho not nintendo, it still feel like nintendo puts in the effort for their main IPs at least when they're the ones making the calls.

You sound really jealous OP. Are you okay? On one hand, I get what you're saying but on the other, it just seems like you have been working on something for yourself and working the craft but a billion dollar company can "pull" stuff like this and it doesn't seem to matter to the general public and fanbase. The only people I ever hear bitch are artists like yourself but it still proves the point of what you actually doing with your art and life? This just comes across as a massive jealous/butthurt post.

You sound really mad anon. Are you okay? On one hand, I get what you're saying but on the other, it just seems like you have been working on something for your outsourcing studio and working the craft but a random guy on the internet can "notice" corners cut like this and it seems to matter to artists and professionals. The only people I ever hear bitch about QA are pajeets like yourself but it still proves the point of what you actually doing with your skills and life? This just comes across as a massive mad/butthurt post.

the pokemon series needs a huge reboot. every year it seems to stagnate with the same copy+paste attitude for every game. nintendo needs to take control from gamefreak, fire them all and get a developer who actually gives a shit to make a reboot game.

You mean Game Freak. The gap in overall quality between the main line games and spin offs is actually staggering.
They struggle to meet a late 2000s standard of graphical fidelity, while Nu Pokemon Snap is one of the best-looking games on the Switch.
You'd think that >>877263 would be inevitable at this point, but there's a reason it's never happened in over 20 years of the franchise. See, Nintendo and TPC are hesitant, justifiably so, to give the main series to anybody else. Despite all GF's failings, they consistently produce main series games on schedule, to a 'good-enough' level of quality, and these games form a stable basis for the rest of the Pokemon franchise - the toys, side-games, cards, merch and other miscellaneous tat - to continue printing money.

Because it has to run on a Switch, you moron. The Switch is literally using flagship smartphone hardware... from 6 years ago. Give them a break, alright? If a Switch came out today with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and 12GB of DDR5 RAM @ 5500MHz, you'd be seeing a very different game.
Anonymous at Tue, 25 Jan 2022 01:50:21 UTC No. 877913
And just for comparison's sake, the GPU power has tripled since those 6 years, and the CPU power has doubled. And this is for a smartphone TDP, so basically 8W at the highest end. The Switch (and it's successor, presumably) has a design with a thermal limit that is twice as much, and won't throttle like smartphones do. Seeing as Genshin can't even run on the Switch at all, going from that to 1080p60 at the highest settings is testament to just how crippled the platform is, and how it's holding the developers back.

The way the plot is structured reminds me of a Pokémon game. After playing Genshin it just feels like an Y's/Pokémon game where the Pokémon are the characters themselves a as opposed to brap of the wild. But Breath of the wild idiots are just as bad as Persona 5 zoomers who believe their game is that genre defining.

I was mostly speaking in termw of the art style, at least for environments. Characters in GI have lots of extra details to them, which can honestly be unnecessary at times.

Kinda doubt that’s the reason, it should be able to handle a few additional textures (on a character!) just fine. I’ve recently worked on assets for a Switch game and all of them were unique 2k and there were a ton of them in the scene.
A lot of japanese studios are just weird with technical side of 3d. Is it a lack of skilled people or not enough care for attention to detail - idk. Things like horrible texel density issues and fucked up materials is not an unusual sight.

Weebs couldn't care less how something looks, all they care about is having the same general color scheme and it's automatically 10/10. 11/10 if it's a child, weebs are utterly obsessed with young children.

That's not an anime, and visual fidelity is something that anime has always greatly emphasized.

Anonymous at Sun, 30 Jan 2022 19:25:43 UTC No. 879070
>>879069
But the argument seems to be that the Switch somehow isn't powerful enough to run anything that looks better than Pokemon Legends, so we should give them a break when their game looks shitty graphically (but you can make a really good-looking game that runs on a toaster, plus the Switch can run Skyrim and Doom).
If the Switch is more powerful than the Wii U, there's no real excuse for Game Freak's game to look as bad as it does, the only explanation seems to be incompetence, or complacency, on Game Freak's part. If the Wii U is somehow more powerful, then releasing a new console that's worse than the previous one is inexcusable.
