I've been working in 3D since the mid 90s and NEVER worked on a SGI machine.
I know they suck now. My 2016 phone is probably more powerful than an Indigo
BUT. They still hold -for me at least- the fetish. I don't need the actual device. Maybe down the line I'd love to get an onyx or indigo.
But my birthday is coming up and I'd love to get a keyboard. I checked up online and ebay europe's been taken up by this german company.
Is there any other way to get SGI parts?
Some years ago I remember you could get an Indigo for 300 or so USD plus shipping.
Does anybody know anything about this?
(sorry if I am not observing some etiquette here. I've been out of 4chan for... some 14 years now.

It's only up from here.
Old hardware is sold for absolutely insane prices on Ebay and this will only get worse because at first sellers put up insane prices to see what sticks but people actually bought at these levels so it just keeps escalating further and further. That keyboard can totally be at over 100 later this year.
The only way to avoid prices like this is getting LUCKY by finding stuff on flea markets or other local spots. Sometimes people don't know what they have and just want to get rid of shit but in these times especially with everyone having a smartphone, most will check the prices of shit they're about to sell.

I completely understand, I had such a hard on for sgi gear when I was a teen. A few years ago I went nuts and got a bunch of sgi gear, including an Octane2 with a rare dual V12 graphics board. In the end, I sold all of it because it had no practical use for me. Cool machines though, and I still think the Octanes are the best industrial design for a desktop computer ever.
I just looked up US ebay prices and they are laughable. If it makes you feel any better, those keyboards are junk and feel like shit to type on.

fuck... yeah I don't think I'll be finding any SGI equipment here in garage sales.
If I were in Dundee or Berlin or even Milan... but I'm in some backwater town of italy near Venice where something like that just doesn't exist until I buy one.
Some time ago I imported a Quest2 from the US and everybody thought it was the weirdest shit.
Love the place, but a hotspot for tech is is not.

Also I completely forgot that I made that same keyboard in 3D yeaaars ago, before I had any sgi crap. I always liked the granite look, I wish someone else would make decent keyboards with that kind of material.
