🧵 designing your game/shorts/concept
Anonymous at Sun, 23 Jan 2022 01:10:09 UTC No. 877530
need a solid guide to design GREAT concepts that run your story, games, short movie whatnot
something good that means
making your portofolio shine and not just "do what you love" kind of thing... but an informed choice that wows people
something that makes brand like marvels what it is, and mcu, and so on
or basically choosing the character's shape, age, colors, theme, action, scenes, story,
the world's size, buildings, locations, whaether so on so forth...

I'm confused. Are you trying to give advice or are you trying to leech off of someone's idea?

>give advice???
huhhhhhh????

Ideas are easy to come up with, the reality of it is you need to just start working on something. And keep working on it. Then keep working on it. Then keep working on it. Then keep working on it. Then keep working on it. Then maybe you can be successful.
>something that makes brand like marvels what it is, and mcu, and so on
There is no secret, they got in early and coasted off of a few characters for the better half a century. The unfortunate reality of it is there is a huge amount of luck that goes into it, but there's also a huge amount of work that you're probably unwilling to do because you're asking for guides about it on 4chan
if chris chan can become a cultural icon then so can you

i dunno whts the work. i hve like ten designs ready and i just need to choose the best one because they all are sort of about the same to me
and i have no editor or publisher to help me choose the best one of them based one financial benefits..
so now it s about choosing well realy. and there s no hard work involved in choosing except knowing whats right and best

If you're looking for a formula to making GREAT 10/10 works, you're not gonna find one. The reason so few people are considered standout is because no one actually does anything.
Ideas are easy to come up with:
For example: A movie where a girl is starts off in a room & every time she opens a door, it teleports her to a random place in the world. The story follows her adventure through the world.
Great, now who's gonna actually write it? Who's gonna model it? Who's gonna animate it?
Greatness is 10% finding/making a good idea, 10% luck, and 80% actually making the damn thing

>i hve like ten designs ready and i just need to choose the best one because they all are sort of about the same to me
Then it doesn't matter which one you pick, go with number 4 and start working

like baki or dokaben?
your opinion is valid but here now and then the phrase "the market is so saturated" goes around because the markey IS saturated and competition is tight so we pick the best to reach the best.
>>877559
hHa lol, i ll take that as consideration
any more bright ideas

also no offense but thats just a premise. to fill out a plot you d need more than that and thats what i am facing : 140 letters of premises to fill out maybe a 400 page tankobon which hopefully picks up weekly or mybe just hit once awhile big enough in books like harry potter or jojo.

hmmm i m trying to keep it unspoiled...can youi just gve me 140 characters of general guideline.
simple enough
Anonymous at Sun, 23 Jan 2022 03:02:25 UTC No. 877569
ah nvm i think i found it.
keyword is : brainstorming until you feel cool or right. seems backwards but it is more correct than "hardwork" when subject is not evident or abstract you need to just find more resources than decidin i guess
gon open other thread in sci or gd so to be able to decide "coolness"
cheers and take csre
close thread pls tx

you can compile a 500gb folder of inspiring concept art and short animations and songs and movie posters but none of it will mean anything until you actually start working on it
trust me dude, I spent 2 years talking about my grand vision for my first game only to realize the amount of work I actually put into the game was about 5% done cause I was too focused on stupid shit
you want the secret?
make a character
decide what the characters shtick is
design the shape of the character with that shtick in mind (ex: he uses a giant hammer so his arms are real fuckin big)
decide the type of world you want him to inhabit
design a basic outline of the story you want to follow
congrats on your character, now you have to actually do the rest of the work to make other people care about it

>The market is saturated
EVERY market is saturated, especially because we have the internet. The key is to find a niche that works for you. If you like something, chances are that there's someone else who will too
>>877583
>None of it will mean anything until you start working on it
this, don't get stuck as an idea guy- once you begin actually making your project it's bound to change as you go

Newsflash: you can't spoil a great story/game/movie/book. Making something is not about keeping your idea or story supersecret, it's about putting years of work into it. Intrinsically ideas are worthless. By the time you explain your story to someone and you actually finished the project, chances are that person has already forgotten your whole conversation.
