Think about this for a second - ziva is a freakin FEM solver, even topping houdini 19's recent non-FEM in believability. This is a remarkable acquisition and along with the Weta tools will devastate and bury the entrenched unreal kiddos

Anonymous No. 878039

How come it's easier to express someone's likeness with nioh 2's character creator than it is with metahuman, cc3, daz and all the other shit

I doubt they'll be integrating those tools in Unity, or even making their output work only with that engine. It would be business suicide

I don't get why people get hyped for Unity acquisitions, all of them amount to a blog post.

In contrast, unreal lets you automatically use them for free.

I would rather use a game engine that the devs actually fucking use. Unity was a fucking mess.

unity is fine and its fast. My only complaint (only complaint) is that it doesnt have more targets to more SoC targets

Ok, but... We all know people will just use whichever software allows them to create porn right? It's why people still put up with Daz and its pricing.

DAZ will have their own muscle-solver in the near future and it will be real-time and they will sell it for free because their business model is to sell assets around it. Rumor has it it will also be compatible with Unreal, Blender, and maybe Unity as well.

Anonymous No. 878279

So whats to stop us from taking their characters and baking all textures and shape keying and getting it all in to makehuman or whatever for lulz?

heres my fear with the ziva acquisition : for games that are either so fast moving with tons of fx or just on a small display like a phone as well as being fast moving you just wont notice the muscle sim and any time setting it up would be wasted. I was playing Doom 3 BFG edition the other day on ps5 on a 60" tv with surround sound and even though it has no muscle simulations and is from 2004, you dont even care. With the spiderman ziva RT suit its hard to even tell unless you know beforehand. This is why I think this acquisition will ultimately be irrelevant. I think that in slower, non interactive film at 24fps characters and animals that are
without clothing or armor could actually look a lot better with ziva but for games with lots of rigid armor and clothing this is almost never the case. Maybe I am wrong.
