Tell me /3/, I have this doubt

>Why is it that any 2D artist would get canceled if they find out they are copying, tracing, using others artists drawings and such
BUT
>A 3D "artist" who uses known videogame models, clothes, stitches heads with daz models, doesnt know how to create all of that just by themselves and even after all of that has like 50k-100k followers online, gets praised and keeps growing everyday?

Because anyone can pickup a pencil and has a general understanding of how 2d arts are made. Most people just think that 3d is literally ‘Computer Generated’ graphics. So they only care wether its wankable or not.

"people" who use DAZ to produce porn live in their own special porn world, same with any other person in the adult industry. There is no overlap between people working in the pornographic industry and people in the mainstream industry. You may as well declare yourself a nazi if you work in porno and attempt to transition to a real job in the industry

what? most of them do exactly that, it's no secret. you just don't copy whole pieces, only a single idea per """reference""".

Novice question.
2D artists always use references. It's all a question about how much of the reference they're using. If they just trace some image without putting some work in then they're just a tracer. The same applies to 3D artists, Daz users or not.

Publishing industry is pretty okay with erotica writers.

You'd also get cancelled if you tried to pass on a ripped model as your own.. plagiarism applies to both sides, but 3d is lenient, we have lots of generators, kits, basemesh

>get canceled
If you in any way believe in the existence of cancel culture you're NGMI. The only people that get "cancelled" are those weak cunts that listen to what Tw*tter freaks have got to say, like yourself for instance

maybe we can cancel the OP by using a spoon. someone hold this faggot down.

The 2D artist is being judged for their ability to draw.

The 3D artist is being judged for their ability to produce an end result by any means necessary.

Because 3D modeling is still in such a clusterfuck state that everyone who can drag through bog of garbage buggy unfriendly software and produce a result which remotely looks like piece of art gets a free pass.

Yeah basically this. "3D artist" is a nerd who tries to do things. Actual artists simply got filtered out 100% of the time until Zbrush happened and created a shabby bridge from traditional art.

>2D artists always use references
No. An artist with developed visual dictionary can do a lot of stuff purely from memory.

2D art is all you and your artistic skill.

3D art requires tons of knowledge, theory and specific software to even begin making something. Just knowing all that is considered an achievement already.

2D art is just one perspective on a flat paper.

3D art requires the piece to look good from all angles and directions. Its not only more demanding from the artistic side but also from a technical perspectives as well.

In 2D art if you want to draw some grass or trees it would take you 2 minutes

In 3D art making a single tree would require hours of work. Modeling, sculpting, topology, uv unwrap, textures arrays of leaves etc. So imagine you need to make a forest?

This is why its acceptable to use base meshes in 3D, because the work it would take to do everything from scratch means each piece could take you weeks or months.

Also if you already made a tree for a previous work then why not re use it?

Reusing assets or using a kit bash doesnt make you any less of an artist, it just helps you reduce time so you can focus on your own design.

Also, I dont consider DAZ users artists because everything is made for them. Daz is more of a character creator like in a video game and in no way comparable to the work of 3D artists.

P.S if you want to see what 3D art entails. Just download Blender for free. Go on Youtube and try to do the Doughnut tutorial.

Then grab a piece of paper and do the same doughnut.

Then tell me what is easier and why would reusing the doughnut in a bakery environment would be consider bad rather than making all doughnuts from scratch and taking weeks instead of hours.

When people are talking about 2D art, they're usually taking about drawing/paintings for most time. If you're going to rip off a picture then what did you do? Nothing. Sure there are animations and 2D videogame too and there's a lot of recycling and tracing in this case because the final product is more than just the images. There's music, sound, plot, etc. Some shortcuts are acceptable as long as it's done within reason.

3D is kind like that. Modeling is just one thing. Very few people model just for the sake of modeling. People that do 3D do it for other reasons like movies or games or engineering or whatever and that involves programming, rigging, animation, physics, etc, so it's okay to take shortcuts. AND if you're just a modeler and rip off someone's else model you'll be burned just like a painter that traced someone else's work.

>why are things different
Because you're talking about two different things.
