Is there any way I render with an older laptop?

You can already render on an older laptop, it might just take a long time.

Will it damage my laptop? The last time I tried rendering with Blender Cycles my PC usage ran at 100%

Good news. Yes there is. Bad news, You have to pay someone else to do it on the cloud.

if you reach 100% windows will basically clock down to stop overheating.

Render one thing at a time and composite them later. Use low settings with limited bounce and avoid sss and fog like the plague. And fuck the build in denoiser, just use denoiser node in the compositor instead. OR you can always try texture baking if you want to have camera move around a static scene. If the PS2 can pull off MGS2 And Silent Hill 3 with noting but defuse maps than so could you.

https://www.sheepit-renderfarm.com/
Free render farm that comes with the caviot of it only being for blendlets.
Kind of works like torrenting, your computer is used to render bits and pieces of other peoples renders and your render is handled by multiple other peoples computers.

Yes and no in the long run. I use to render on my old macbook and lenovo and holy shit, they were hot as fuck when they would render and I had to point a fan on high blast on them. Luckily it's "winter weather" here so I open the window, point the fan at the laptops, and let them run overnight. No problems so far, but it takes a while longer just because they are older models.

you dont have the hardware for rendering. Switch to mobile development. Ironically there is way more money in it despite how much you may bitch and moan.

What's funny is if you have a few comps and laptops laying around, Blender has a really nice multiple render system built in place. It has never failed to offset the render process for me with just a few laptops and desktops.

I never said I did have the hardware. But it is an alternative solution to rendering. I never claimed it was the be-all-end-all-solution. It's just something I did in college to get shit done and it worked for me. It's just another solution. Don't act like it's the ultimate way of doing things. Plus, I wasn't ever bitching and moaning, all I was doing was giving a perspective to said OP. Don't take my advice as useful. But apparently, in your small head, I did...

Who's checking all the models to stop you?
