๐Ÿงต Render Network (RNDR), a decentralized, blockchain-based GPU rendering network from OTOY

What does /3/ think about Render Network? Is it a solution to the GPU shortage for 3D artists?

Can you make porn with it?

I don't see why not. I have yet to see anything in the documentation prohibiting it.

go to the website and scroll down to founders. there's literally (((JJ Abrams))) and he can't resist spouting kike globohomo shit in the summary. pic related.
>goy give us your computer resource power so we can render more niggers in lord of the watermelon. the coin is totally gonna moon!

kys kikes. I'm gonna slaughter you all (in Houdini).

I used to think it was a cool idea, but it's gonna be just as dumb as every other "decentralized" bullshit. The biggest problems are
>data transfer
Can you imagine having to transfer all that data over the internet to these render nodes and then downloading terrabytes of rendered frames... Might be cool for indie people and home users. But it just won't work for large production, when you gotta go fast.
>security
I don't know how they can guarantee this when you're sending data to decentralized network of nodes across the world. Too many variables for a production house to not be in control of. A disaster waiting to happen.
>cost
It'll probably still have to be dedicated render farms, just run by someone else. Because of the first two problems, there is no fucking way it's gonna be some completely decentralized thing where any random can daisy chain their hardware to the network. And I doubt these companies will be offering their services below or at in house rates.

So if it doesn't solve any of the primary concerns, what is the point of using RNDR over existing external render farms? None. Just like with everything else, all this blockchain garbage promises solutions for problems that nobody asked to solve.

Absolutely this. Can you imagine if any node in the network was able to rip your models, materials, etc?
So who's the audience? Amateurs? They already have access to independent, community-managed render networks which don't need to rely on a shitcoin to work.

Yeah, I can imagine the gas fees and energy requirements. If they had went with something like Tezos or Solana instead, it would have probably been a lot better.
