Doesn't industry standard software deserve industry standard teachers?

Think with your head for once, why would industry standard teachers be on YouTube?

They're behind paywalls on websites like Udemy and Skillshare.

Maya users are too busy since they actually having a job
But honestly there are tons Maya tutorials free and paid ones, for example on Wingfox 80% of all tutors are for Maya or using Maya

You will never anything by watching tutorials. It's the same thing as "X for dummies" books, it will make you feel like you are doing something, while in reality you are just wasting time and energy on monkeying someone's steps.

personally i just watch tutorials to understand the basic workflow and what the buttons do. once you know how to model in blender you can do the same thing in max once you know what buttons to press

Lol you wish my entire class who learned with Maya switched over to Blender. Maya is an ancient dinosaur in comparison. Also finding a job? Unless you work for Ubisoft or Pixar then I doubt they would even be used Maya and those pipelines are so heavily customized that its not even the standard Maya anymore.

Take the hint and learn Blender. Once you can 3D model and know all the tools you can model in any software. Maya is falling behind and nobody actually buys it. So unless your dream is to work for Pixar then just learn Blender. Its so much better, easier to learn, and free.

if they going to keep that attitude, in ten years blender users will replace them because nobody is learning maya while blender userbase is skyrocketing

Funny, because Blender was made inhe 1990s BEFORE Maya.

You mean version 2.8+, that was only introduced during the last 3 years, right? Try Blender 2.79 or lower and tell me it's easier to use than Maya. It's interface was dog shit.

I hope you realize that once you pay for the subscription once and just screen record the "masterclasses" for a month and then end the subscription when you felt like you recorded enough.

Its funny since I moved from Blender to Maya not so long ago, and i enjoy maya workflow might better, sure there is less beginners tutorials but i don\t need that anymore what im interested now is pipelines and there is plenty of that for maya
I also like Maya "community" might better to be honest, really tired of blender guys

not entirely
you watch tutorials to get a general understanding of the workflow, techniques, and procedures, that are used to accomplish a specific end goal
once you understand what people generally do to accomplish "x", you then work on your own projects, and incorporate this newfound knowledge into your workflow
watching a tutorial and brainlessly copying what they do is a 100% waste of time
what's valuable, is using tutorials as a reference, so you can get a strong insight on how to approach an idea, whereafter, you apply the insights into your own custom work procedures
think of tutorials, as having a mentor telling you: "Yeah, so, to accomplish 'x', we generally perform 'y', then 'z'. Sometimes you'll need to 'a' on 'b' if there are any complications during the 'y/z' procedure. If you're ever lost or confused, just search up key words on Google."
tutorials basically point you in the direction to go, and expect you to ensure that you take yourself to your destination
people assume that copying steps from a youtube video will teach them how to do anything other than copy, it's a sad waste of time
you NEED to understand the concepts behind the techniques that you apply, you'll be useless if you simply copy the instructor's actions
t. spent 2 years self teaching coding/webdev, had to learn the hard way how to use tutorials
6 months of tutorial hell was a blessing in disguise; there's nothing i can't learn now

udemy reviews generally give you a good idea of how good a course is
plus you can preview full videos from the course before spending $15 on it
plus, you can refund it within 30 days, as long as you don't watch over 30% of the videos, i believe
>>880692
i'm not a udemy shill, but paying for courses will bolster the "economy" of the e-tutorial realm, and will incentivize instructors to produce better & more competitive content, thus improving your learning experience, by providing higher quality material
from the early 2020 to now, the influx of quarantine coders has led to a significant increase in the amount of high quality courses on udemy
udemy used to be flooded with low quality shit, with a few gems in the rough, but, as the market grew, more and more genuinely intelligent guys have began putting out some seriously useful content
it used to be "ok guys copy my code and you have a todo app"
but now, these guys actually put in effort to ensure that you understand what's going on, rather than expecting you to follow a useless codealong

I like udemy, you can buy tutorials on sale and watch forever, skillshare is subscription only, but there are some creators that sell on both, even on linkedin learning (lynda.com)

This is why I hate most videos. I just want an answer to something and would rather skim through a written tutorial instead of having to listen to some guy slowly nag on for half an hour.

I'm going to sound like an absolute tool, but can you recommend some good torrent side, this is post-2010 where every torrent site is either private invites or completely shutdown.
