because Modelling is fun for me, I'd hate to outsource a job I love doing to anyone other than me. if anyone can model a part the way I want to it's me

I'm capable of making my own assets with tools I don't need to pay for. Every single thing made with it looks terrible anyway.

WTF is a "chudtlie"? Your words have absolutely no power if nobody knows what they mean. Your picture isn't convincing of anything either. Have fun coping with the fact that you actually spent money on that.

Jokes aside, can someone answer these questions:
- Do you feel it's viable workflow to make your model in assetforge, import them in Zbrush for styling and retopo them later ?
- How many subdivision can you do on a model with this software, it seems to be very blocky from every screenshots I saw?
- Never took interest in it but is it aimed toward a specific style of graphics or is it some multi purpose early job kind of software ? (don't mind the awful english pls)

Not really. Just look at it, it's a toy for ideaguys who can't into 3D. Just a bunch of incredibly simple primitive low poly shapes you can make in 1 minute if you know how to model. And if you actually use Zbrush, then you should definitely know how to create these base meshes by yourself already.
Subdivisions? It's a low poly, you'd have to prepare it for subd or bevel + fwn workflow. It's pointless. If you're gonna sculpt it later on, just do it in Zbrush then.

You would think but I took the most chaotic path to learning 3D ever. I started with animating (thus rigging and weight painting), then procedural modeling with Houdini (wich is only based on nodes) and then I learned sculpting.
I still have to learn poly modeling, UVS and texture stuff and I'll be set.

bro I'm sorry but this just looks really bad.
You can make a procedural 3d unity game in an hour, and you make this.

This. Unironically.
I was a kid playing with The Games Factory and made better shit than that on a weekly basis.

Yeah, I kinda expected this answer lol, but you can still just sculpt hardsurface stuff as well. Just use clip curve, knife curve, clip rect etc. together with planar brush. But either way, these assetforge shapes are so basic you should be able to learn how to do it with Zmodeler in an hour tops.

Me 3.
Cris, what's the point of that 3d assetforge scene in the intro when the gameplay itself is in 2D. Art styles clash and the scenes itself don't even look the same. What's up with that horrible green grid floor?

Assetforge is great because you can make a basemesh in 2 minutes while modelling could take you 20 minutes.
besides, it works as a digital sketchpad where you can quickly kitbash and prototype stuff.
>but I can model
which is not the point of the tool, is not a modeler but a kitbashing tool.
Is meant to make some kitbashed basemesh quickly.
Anonymous at Sun, 13 Feb 2022 17:47:46 UTC No. 882096
>>882093
I don't see much flexibility with it, so it seems pointless unless you're doing such a low poly art style in the first place. Proportions are a mess for more realistic stuff. You could model exactly what you want in the time it takes to browse the library for something decent.
Also, why not invest in some actually good kitbash library instead,
and also why not just use free stuff from Sketchfab as base meshes?
Asset forge seems decent for mobile-tier low poly stuff, that's it.

because I'm not making a fucking shitty movie AAA game, but some indie one?
So far it gets the job done, which is to be a sketching tool to prototype quick meshes.
You're really missing the point of the tool when the tool is just meant to prototype in 50 seconds a model.
Is not meant to replace blender or maya or zbrush.

Look at this, less than one minute of effort and a basic spaceship is done.
Besides, limitations breed creativity, and it helps to actually being limited to premade shapes when prototyping models.

If it works for you, who am I to judge. I’m just stating my opinion. The video is sped up btw, and these are literal primitives with a couple of vertex repositions and extrudes at most. You really can model that shit in the time it takes you to find it in the library. Also let’s not forget Zbrush where you can design this kind of thing even faster. But I do somewhat agree on the creativity part.
Anonymous at Sun, 13 Feb 2022 18:20:53 UTC No. 882107

yeah, the point is that is more like a prototyping tool than a modeler.
