🧵 what can someone with only 85 IQ do

Anonymous No. 880938

my brain literally cannot comprehend how 3d modelling works or 3d animation works. Trust me, I have tried for months and cannot get a grip of what its trying to say. I have tried several programs like blender, maya, cinema 4d and shit. I am tired and fed up with trying anymore. Should I just save my money and just pay people to do stuff for me?

Anonymous No. 880943

>>880938
but are you actually interested in that stuff, or do you feel like you have to learn it to do something else that you want to do?
because if you're interested you can probably keep practicing until you learn but if you hate it where are you going to get the motivation from?

>>880938
dude first you have to learn the basics, and by the basics I mean simple transforms and bevels etc.. I am sure that with a breakdown of what you did and what you are struggling with we could fix it. Unless you are a bottom black with actual 85iq, then It will be hardu

Idk if I should cry or not, I wonder how does it feel to reach the top when you barely even started. I on the other hand got reached by studios like Ubisoft, but denied the offers because reasons. It would've probably been a good opportunity. But ILM though. Jesus Christ...

I have no clue, but this is ILM. I'm looking at salaries and they seem pretty damn good. I'm sure he will be overworked and stressed out a lot, but it will also be a priceless experience.

I kinda think the same about Ubi, maybe I should have pulled the trigger and go there. I feel like it would be a great thing to have in a portolio, people would treat you with more respect. I can create the most amazing art in the world and put it on artstation, but if I only worked on contracts for various smaller studios, I feel like my experience would never have the same... "weight", I guess? I know deep down this is soul shattering and pointless envy, but these kinds of news in my community always ruin my week.

@85 you are bordering towards mental retardation so if everything seems overwhelming that is just to be expected anon.
But I've often wondered about what it's like to go thru life with a completely normal average IQ, so many people obv manage to do it.
I'm tested at 142 and still there are plenty of times when I try my very best and end up feeling stupid and incapable.

It seems like there is a sweetspot when you're dumb enough to miss a lot of nuance yet clever enough to engage with a problem that enables you
to come to a subpar solution that is 'gud enuff' within reasonable time. Where as being able to comprehend a problem in greater detail
becomes this great hindrance towards reaching a clean solution since you have to solve for more edgecases than a normal person approaching the same issue.

I feel like I'd be a lot more powerful with a lower IQ and increased recklessness.

Cinema 4D the most easy software that you mentioned. Best to use that. Also, don't just try modeling free-hand. It is best to use a reference drawings use that as a guide for modeling. Hope this helped, anon.

I would again tell the OP to get good at drawing, first. Most 3D artists are decent to great at drawing sketches. Most 3D designs are first drawn with paper and then used as "image planes" in the viewports to used as a reference to model.

So to sum it up
1.Draw concept art first
2.Scan into computer and crop
3.Bring picture into 3D app as image plane in viewport
4.Model using picture you drew as a guide

Hope this helps any "mentally confused" anons out there.

maybe it's not intelligence but a lack of creativity?

successful artists...
>experiment endlessly and tirelessly
>look at references while working
>look at art in their spare time (if you haven't saved thousands of images that stimulate you then you're ngmi)
>learn their tools and think of creative ways to use them
>make difficult compromises (sometimes you have to work with what God gives you)
and so on

Anonymous No. 884603

>>884601
creativity and intelligence go hand in hand.
I've never met a person who was creative but not intelligent and vice versa.
What you are pointing at is more of a personality "problem".
There are intelligent and creative people who never really make use of their ability for whatever reason (maybe shyness/fear of judgement etc...) or they simply lack interest.
My grandpa was an engineer, he could draw like nobody else in my family, but he never did it for fun or to express himself artistically even if he could.
Many intelligent people have the potential and the ability to do art, but many never explore it...you need to also have the drive to do so.

3D programs are hard in like you need to understand 100 different things and how they do it before you can start using them.

Was this your experience with 3d ?

If you are interested we can get in contact and you can pay me so I teach you over the internet.

And 99.9999% of all humans intuitivley udnerstand 3D.

If you ever made something out of clay you understand how 3D works. My theory is that 2D is a abomination that most pope do no understand how to fake the fact that ancient people literally made flat doodles while having stone statues that are realistic proves this.

Its expensive, but if you have the money and are willing to invest in your education, I would highly recommend a School of Motion course.

Instead of just getting a load of tutorials like CGCookie or Greyscale Gorrila, you enrol on an actual course where you are set exercises which you receive feedback on, you can speak to TAs if you get stuck (and they also have this community thing where you can submit work for peer feedback and help, but I never found this much help personally)

I apprehensively enrolled on a course as I needed to transition from Blender to C4D and I was thoroughly surprised by the level of teaching I received.

You have it in you to access that part of the brain, it's just finding the flow once you're there. Smart and creative people just need a solid base to work off of, they can translate the necessary bits over once you have a grip on the "language".
