That's fairly impressive for a real time render. I want a new game like Rogue Squadron 1 like you wouldn't believe.

>That's fairly impressive for a real time render
Idk if you're joking or have been living under a rock when it comes to game and realtime rendering tech, but that definitely isn't close to being impressive for a realtime render. Other engines can achieve much much better visuals than this.

yeah, but godot can easily run at MAX settings on my fucking 300 APU AMD card while unreal needs a 2500 USD GPU to run at 10 fps.

you can get the same results in your freaking web browser with shadertoy, hell shadertoy from 7 years ago

and shadertoy is not a game engine nor can export to android or multiplatform.

Completely irrelevant, we're talking about final visual quality here

Anonymous No. 882608

>>882606
ok, so game graphics are the most important fact and not other things like the engine being able to fucking run on the first place in third world computers?

Godot entire market is poor indie developers and poorfag gamers.

Godot market is diferent from unreal.

Anonymous No. 882619

>>882608
As I said, THAT IS IRRELEVANT! Obviously Godot has its market, but the thread is about visual fidelity, and it can't compete even with Unity, let alone UE5. That's all I'm saying. You can't just have separate standards for it just because it can run on an old PC.

Indie use Unity and Unreal as well.

Seethe more. Imagine being hurt by someone stating facts about something you didn't even create.

Anonymous No. 882623

>>882622
Again, sure, unreal is a 15 billion game engine, and unity is 5 billion.

Godot devs make around 15-20k per month.

Is silly to compare both.

Besides OP is godot 3.2.
4.0 will have much better graphics.

Anonymous No. 882624

>>882623
Consumers don't give a single fuck what engine you're using if the results are subpar.

Anonymous No. 882625

>>882624
again, diferent markets.

Godot competes for the indie gamedev market, not the AAA ones.

Also, godot gaming consumers are generally the guys that play indie games, so they dont seek AAA graphics.

Anonymous No. 882631

>>882625
Ok, guess all those indie devs who use anything but Godot are retards.

Anonymous No. 882632

>>882631
yeah, because they should seek not the best tool for indies but the best for AAA.

because clearly indies and AAA are the same.

again, why I cant be happy godot graphics improve?

and why are u comparing an indie game engine with an AAA?

Anonymous No. 882653

>>882641
Yes, you can be happy about it. The anon at the beginning said it looks great for a realtime renderer and I said there are much better realtime renderers available which is a simple fact. Everything else about the consumer market, PC specs and gamedev has been brought by you from nowhere because you’re sensitive about the topic.

Anonymous No. 882655

>>882653
because you're comparing totally diferent niches.

Anonymous No. 882661

>>882655
Realtime renderer is a realtime renderer… You started this comparison bullshit. The image in the OP isn’t even a game, but a still render.

Anonymous No. 882662

>>882661
I didnt made the reddit thread.

I thought It was good enough for godot, which is the point of the thread.

I never compared it to unreal in my OP.

Anonymous No. 882668

>>882581
>Other engines can achieve much much better visuals than this.
High fidelity graphics and impressive are not the same thing.
The bad shadow striping and lack of composition is the main thing holding this render back, but It conveys scale in a (somewhat) convincing way, I find the use of color very pleasing and the details on the Y-Wings interesting to look at. It's impressive, even if it isn't particularly realistic by modern standards.

Anonymous No. 882672

>>882668
Another guy misinterpreting my words. We’re clearly talking about fidelity and tech here, not the use of colors or models in this particular picture. But I’d disagree on that as well, from the texture and material definition of the mountains, to the weird background blur which makes it look closer to the miniature than a huge landscape. I don’t see any reflections on those ships either, so yeah…

Anonymous No. 882674

>>882672
if you're talking about fidelity, there is none here. Its a toy

Anonymous No. 882685

Does Godot allow own code? Can I write new functionality?

Anonymous No. 882690

>>882685
is open source, you can mod the engine or write a addon using gdnative, which is like a c++ scripting system for implementing new functionality.

Anonymous No. 882693

I'll look into it, thanks
