Tell me industryfags, is it true you guys work 80hr weeks and get paid no overtime and that you have to fight for jobs a pajeet is willing to do for scraps? What's it like working for someone where you have no creative control over the direction of the project? Does the novelty of seeing your name in artstation or in the credits of a movie wear off overtime? Please redpill me on why I should quit my comfy but boring government job for 3d when I can do it on the side on my own terms with pirated software and courses?

>80 hours a week
I'm not a compositor, so I work normal hours 90% of the time. Sometimes when a lot of changes have to be made and deadlines are tight I might work a few weekends.
>no overtime
Depends where you are. Most places pay overtime, I'm in London so I don't get overtime. I get days off though and I cash them in often.
>where you have no creative control
I personally don't care. It's just a job that pays relatively well and I like doing.
>name on credits
I don't care about this. Also most of the time you won't be on them anyway, because unless you were one of the primary artists your name will go in a raffle.
>why I should quit my comfy job
If you're happy where you are, no reason to change. I worked a comfy office job for a short period and if I had to be stuck with these losers for the rest of my life, I'd probably wanna off myself. I do 3D because I hate everything else and I somewhat enjoy 3D.
However, these shitty working conditions only really apply to high end VFX and AAA games. Also depends on your position, the further you are down the chain, the worse it is. If you work on 3d animated cartoons, games, arch-viz, medical, etc. It's a lot more chill and you work normal hours, with a long term contract usually. Wage cap is usually a lot lower than VFX but you get much better work/life balance.

>80hr weeks?
40 hours and anything over is 1.5x pay
>No creative control?
We own the product and can make final decisions
>Does the novelty wear off?
No
>Quit my comfy but boring government job?
No, you probably suck.

>80hr weeks
40 hours and I browse the internet for 30 of them.
>no overtime
See above
>a pajeet is willing to do for scraps?
I'm not a modeller, a pajeet literally doesn't have high enough IQ to do my job.
>no creative control
I have creative control over my own personal projects which I can do better than you, nigger.
Sometimes work does line up with your personal tastes and that makes it more enjoyable for sure.
WFH made it so I can literally get paid to work 6 hours on personal projects and 2 on company shit for the day.
There's talks of switching to a 4-hour work week with no salary cut and it's probably the best decision they could ever make.
>name on credits
Took me over 3 years and working on half a dozen shows before getting my first on-screen credit on a bullshit movie.
No one cares. The average schmuck thinks MCU shovelcrap is made at Marvel Studios because that's the first thing they show on screen. They don't have a long enough attention span to see anything else after that other than Cap gagging on nigger dicks.
Kids these days want to be paid to be mic screamers, not to make Star Wars VFX.
High end VFX here, just don't work at MPC (or comp, like >>883085 said) and you'll be fine.
>I can do it on the side on my own terms
You can, but you won't. Because you suck dick, faggot. Stay malding.

No need for the insults nigger, I wouldn't have sculpted OP pic if I sucked my own dick. I do think I have a knack for 3d but allocating time for it is hard. I want to make my own mmd waifu to animate with some day.

On the contrary, there's indeed need for insults, lmao.
Good luck, nonce.
