So do I really need a drawing tablet for 3D modelling or mouse is good enough?

Generally want something that can do pressure control if you are going to go the sculpting 3d route (aka high poly sub-d, organic models).
Hard surface and low poly stuff is a lot more technical and precise and is better done with a mouse and keyboard (you sometimes want exact x,y,z positions to make faces planar and such).
Tablet is for 2D imo, which is a major part of high fidelity 3d. If you go stylized or abstract, its not needed.

For sculpting / texturing you kind of need it, for everything else it's not necessary. But if you get a job or plan on doing it for 8+ hours a day, then tablet is the way to go if you want to save your wrists in the long run.

Get a tablet. If you're serious about it get a tablet. You will find a use for it. They exist for a reason.

Same as with the mouse. Just try it, it’s more natural. Even just selecting faces with tap vs click is so much better and healthier.

many actions involve the scroll wheel and the mouse side buttons, so no, its not the same. Heck, hopscutter is unusable with a tablet

You don't need it for modeling, but you do need it for sculpting.

Nah. They work well as mouse pointers, but the pens are pretty mediocre unless you spend the money on a better model, and at that point, you're in the budget for a lightly used wacom or ipad instead.
I've had expensive xp pen and huions in the past. I think they'll eventually get there, and they're decent for Chinese products, but they're just not worth it if you plan on keeping it.
