๐งต So, why I don't see a lot of people animating by sculpture?

This has been on the table for 8 years now. I know that game developers need rigged characters for games, but for common 3D animation, why don't people do this instead? To me it seems far more comfortable and efficient than going through all of the hassle of rigging.

Because you can animate with bones and then sculpt poses on top of that (see: hotel Transylvania behind the scenes)

So you're telling me I can create an animated "base" and then sculpt on top of that using the method of the OP video? Of course, adding shape keys and triggers?

try doing both and you'll figure out why
even if it were easy, it's more laborious in the long term since you can't retarget, modify, or reuse animations like you can with rigs.

Yes. Shape keys work really well with bones, actually. You can drive shape keys based on bone positions.

Blender being this free and easily accessible 3D program seems to attract a lot of brainlets who come up with the stupidest ideas

Since my goal is not to animate characters dancing or running but rather just doing subtle things just as having sex I found this approach more useful because MY goal is to fully reflect the subtle changes in muscles when moving
