๐งต Still Can't use Nanite or Lumens

Can't use lumens
Can't use Nanite
Can't use Ray Tracing
What's the point? All the power and it's useless, this would be a power house specially in the industry now, everyone is using Unreal Engine for movies and TV now specially after Stagecraft and the Star Wars thing, now that Obi Wan Trailer has dropped and people are seeing the epicness that can be creted it's a no brainer, so why are Apple being retards?
Anonymous at Thu, 10 Mar 2022 11:16:08 UTC No. 886353
I can't stand Apple with its pretentious ways and overpriced bullshit but I have absolutely no doubt that pretty much all desktops will run on ARM in the future. x86 is too much of a clusterfuck of old baggage and efficiency has never been more important, especially now with energy costs shooting through the fucking roof. Add the fact that the computer industry always waits for Apple to try [thing] and then apes shit and you know what the future will be like.
For now it is really limited but I have no doubt that they're working on getting this shit to run most industry software packages.
I for one will postpone jumping on that crap as long as possible though and let others do the voluntary bug riding.

Retard the audience is not targeted at you. It's for NPCs who don't know how anything about computers.

So why are they showing cinema4D and redshift in their promotional videos? Of course it's for us too, they advertise it as production quality computers

No i use a wide range of 3D modelling programs and unreal Engine as a game developer, using nanite and lumen right now is a must in our industry, maybe leave your moms basement and keep up with the real world

again, sounds like you want a gayming pc since you do (hobbyist) game development. Macs dont game. Everyone knows that. They also aren't PCs.

It would probably melt if it could use those programs. Cooling is crap on those new macs.

Aren't Lumen and Nanite Direct X only?

i'm kinda surprised we don't have widespread arm windows deployment. when the iphone came out, every manufacturer immediately copied its design. but arm has been slow to nonexistent

Lumen/nanite, need Mesh shaders plus HW raytracing support, M1 GPUs lack of it and a lot other things.

It just got Vulkan support in the Preview 1 release last month. Nanite is also supported but there's a little glitch where Nanite meshes give off artifacts for a frame after you move in the viewport.

Oh sweet.
Then I guess Apple deserves to stay irrelevant. Serves them right for trying to shove Metal down everyone's throats instead of supporting open standards.
