Does it seem like /3/d graphics haven't really progressed since like 2013 to anyone else? Why is this?

They've come a long way since 2013. But we're very much up against diminishing returns seeing how good graphics has been for a long time now.
Available manhours from competent artists and production costs are the limiting factor.

Competent people burn out working for the usual suspect megastudious so talent becomes more diluted across numerous productions.

You look at a big budget Marvel movie from 2013 and compare it to 2022 and if you lived in a bubble you really couldnt tell them apart.

Because well made offline renders where already pretty much perfect in 2013. If there isn't any room for improvement improving is not possible.

how is improvement not possible when the movies are not even in the VR space.

Almost nobody wants to watch movies in VR. People hated 3D even when it was well made, now just imagine all the fuckery directors would make if they allowed us to turn our head to look around the environment.

you have entirely different experiences in VR when its made for VR. With my headset its so fucking sweet, much better than a regular movie. But, if you're watching a traditional non vr movie in vr its really really bad

No, the thing is that CG is so good now that it's faster but if you want better results then you have to spend more time and money on shit and the hollywood execs prefer faster results than better looking ones, you can tell it has gotten better because entire movies are done in a greenscreen rather than mixing them with real sets like in the past

it actually looked better in the past, around 2009, like in terminator salvation

Because it's about a niche interest newfags don't associate with 4Chan so even most people interested won't actually come here.

Motion sickness is one thing. A lot of people suffer from it, which means less money from sold tickets. A lot of moviegoers also want to sit down with popcorn and watch a movie without having to wear some clunky, pre-used, sweaty VR headset and have to turn around in their seats to watch the damn movie.
Small scale art events, sure, that could work, you kinda expect some sort of unique, mildly active experience there, but blockbusters for the common person (someone who would voluntarily watch a Marvel movie) aren't gonna go use VR until we manage to fit it into something tiny and let people know they won't have to do shit in their seats.

>write a poem or whatever monologue
>use unreal engine to build little scenes from assets matching to whatever you are rambling about
>go stupid on after effects filters and plugins like posterize and pixel sorter
>put some sounds on it
