I think it's because you're looking up the wrong things. If you're hand painting in 3d, it's in the texturing part of tutorials.

it's all about merging your other maps with your albedo color before you color further. You multiply your ao and curvature maps before you make it more pretty

That is the modern workflow they use on league etc. yes but it's not needed.

I've been feeling so lost lately that its been killing my motivation. Whenever i see these tutorials like this anon linked >>891331 it was already way too advanced for me.
An anon in /wip/ thread outdid me because they were very good at handpainting and i want to be as good as them but its just really hard to find specific tutorials.
Maybe ill break out of the stress sooner or later but i cant stop being insecure.
I need to do so much more than just flat shaded textures.
