I guess it depends on the level of detail you are aiming for. These characters look low poly enough for mobile games most likely. But for your first 4 months I think its solid progress. The important thing is that you continue, and remain critical with your own work, constantly raise the bar a little more with every bit of prgress you make.

Buy a tablet and sculpt. Anything besides hard surface in modeling is a pain in the ass. Just make base meshes and then dip from there.
