Not with quad draw that's for sure.

Adsk made lots of improvements to quad draw in 2023. Its basically 2.0

Anonymous No. 896742

noob here, what's the best tool for retopology? 3dcoat? topogun?

maya quad draw unironically

Anonymous No. 896800

how do I switch quad draw into making triangles? I hate making quads and then merging 1 vertex with the other

Why lie like that? The program even highlights in green parentheses what's new and updated. The auto retopo tool has it while quad draw does not.

Okay just argue in bad faith then and ignore the lack of green highlight.

You will never be a real retopologizer. You have no skill, you have no talent. All of your drawn "quads" are twisted by your primitiveness into a crude mockery of nature's perfection.

Something that is perfect wouldn't be in constant flux.

Quad draw works great but it would be great if it would just work on any surface automatically, like Blender's otherwise less sophisticated but also useful poly build tool

It is never Maya's fault you have a shit toaster running blender, blendfag.

I retop with quad draw + UV in Maya then bring it into blender for rig and render

>nothing about quad draw
>guy shows how the auto retopo is still inferior to zremesh and can't control edgeflow like you can with the zremesh guide brush.
Resident Maya shill is a retard. Go figure.
>shit toaster
With a 2080 ti and I9-10900 for high single-threaded performance? Yeah don't go there.

>I retopo with quad draw
how many faces do you get to before the lag kicks in and you have to isolate your retopo mesh into islands and merge them all at the later?
>then bring it into blender for rig and render
Why though?

What's wrong with it? How does it compare to topogun?

Sigma No. 899699

What I've Tried:

- 3D Coat (Ok, but not quite there yet)
- Zbrush (Just feels very autistic to use, I was quite disappointed)
- Topogun (Pretty good but I couldn't go straight to UV mapping after that)
- Autodesk Maya's Quad Draw (very good since I also combine with Create 3D Character's toolset)

So yeah, I would say Quad Draw is the best we have right now.
In reality, you should be combining a Zremesher + Quad Draw for topology works with your projects.
I feel like it's the most optimum way right now.

P.S : Yes I've never done retopology with Blender so far but this board told me it's lacking in the 3D modeling department.
I will learn Blender this summer since it's rendering capacity is so much better than Arnold for NPR styles.

Hope this helps, anonymous.

You got memed.

3D Modeling is Blender's strength and it's arguably the best choice for fast workflow polymodeling and retopology.
It's behind in other areas, but not modeling.

z-rememsher is nice because it gets you 80% of the way there with a single button press. then you can take it and refine it in whatever software you want if you dont like retopo in zbrush.

having used quad draw professionally, it's fine. we did commercial grade work with it on a regular basis for the auto industry and it didnt cause any problems, although this was back in 2017-2018, so i cant speak on any changes since then as i dont use that software anymore
