You can only post in this thread if you have made ANY 3d progress today.
I converted an smd to mdl (without textures or collisions and it was way underscaled, but progress)

It’s to motivate people to get started
If you deleted the default cube in Blender you’re free to post

I have never, in my entire existence of being, have ever seen "gatekeeping" in a bad light
>you can only post in this thread if you made any progress in 3D
>yea this is gatekeeping!
Post any 3d work. If you didn't then yes, gatekeeping does work cause you can't even post a simple stickman just to show you know what you're doing.

i sculpted another full female body from a sphere. Im still a beginner.
my biggest problem is keeping surfaces smooth and even, no clue how people avoid these kind of bumps across the skin. I'd spend like 15 minutes just carefully smoothing out the surface

Jokes on you, my startup file doesn't even HAVE a default cube.
>but you're just gonna add one anyway
You'd be right, if I only made shit out of cubes. Default plane would be more useful than a cube.

So add that?
I have a bip for size reference and all my render setting stored in the startup file.

So let me get this straight OP, you didn't even make a model...you just converted it? and now you're looking for some kind of pat on the back?
Do you know why we hate cris? it's not because he's bad at modelling, plenty of people are bad at modelling. It's his mindset, cris will find the shittiest looking indie game he can and say that it's ok his art looks bad because this other game looks bad (never mind the fact that the examples he picks are usually 10x more appealing than his work but still). A loser looks down to try and make themselves feel bigger while a winner looks up and aspires to reach the higher level themselves.
What you are doing in this thread is what cris does, only you don't even have the decency to attempt actually making something yourself so you are now in fact WORSE THAN CRIS. Fuck this thread and fuck you for making me say anything positive about cris.

somebody posted something about cris' visual perception being lower than normal - far lower. I don't doubt it. He can't write, either.

Used to have the same problem
Start on a low poly mesh, define all the basic forms, then remesh or subd to a dense mesh, apply smooth, define better shapes/ refine what you did, remesh again or subd, again apply smooth but not to strong to avoid loose detail, again sculpt/ refine what you did.
basically is sculpt> add more geo> smooth> sculpt again the detail
Just do a test head or torso and try it, you are going to get amazed with the results

I've got a plane, camera (with rig), and a fake-user(ed) material with all my useful node-groups that I use all the time. I've even set up default render settings and shit for both renders.
My startup file is the bees knees.

I really recommend using multiple spheres to block out the body and then joining them. I used to try pulling bodies from spheres and I think it is good for learning but kind of time-intensive.

It's because when you sculpt you create shit topology, but you can try to remesh it to solve it temorarily, but eventually you want to retopologize it, then it will be a lot eadier to sculpt on. Retopologizing is not easy, it will require a lot of patience and trial/error. I like to think of it as solving a puzzle game, it feels like i level up every time i fix a difficult area.
