Whats the worst thing in 3D? What do you hate the most?
I totally HATE skinning and rigging. But mostly skinning. It makes no sense, its a waste of time and even after trying lots of plugins, autorigs and skinning tools I cant figure out how to make a proper rig. (Maya)
I prefer to UV 200 objects instead of 1 single human rig.

It's really not once you get the hang of it.
Of course, in order to do that in the first place, you need to have a fascination for mechanics and/or biomechanics, anatomy and form, which most people who get into 3d to bypass drawing entirely to make their shitty fursona or animu waifu and get clout on twitter don't have and never will.
Hey, more job security for me.

There is no standard for material and shader settings, you can get the perfect look in Blender through nodes, maybe some good toon shader or the like but neither Unity, UE, or any other engine will have a similar material way of setting it up, not even ArmorPaint which seems based off Blender has the same node library.

the thing is though that the "proper" rigs you see winning the awards are now muscle simulation rigs which mean you forgo skincluster entirely and instead use a solver that interacts with modelled bones, tissue, and fat.

I have a passionate hatred for skinning, I hope to learn to love it someday.
Maybe it's better in Blender.

OP admits he's relying on automation, so even if he learns all of them, he's still going to get fucked up deforms because he won't learn to skin and rig.
>Hey, more job security for me.
I was going to make a joke about oil rigs, but I remembered I had a friend who worked on one and now my heart's all bent out of shape like OP's knee. :(

There's a reason why 3d rigging and skinning is in constant demand since plenty of 3d artists can't comprehend anything even remotely mechanical. That being said, I can't render my models properly and there's always discrepancy between lets say Substance painter and Arnold. I'm seriously considering buying Marmoset toolbar just for this reason alone.
