As long as it gets the job done, nobody cares. Companies will even give managers good boy points for saving money by using free software.

..because he is to ignorant to realise that, while he needs tons of different applications to archive something, blendlets just need one!
blender isnt the best in anything, but you can be sure, when you want to make an animation movie, you can do it just with blender - the open movie projects from the blender foundation are a proof!

You will never be able to compete. It can't. I have all of these softwares and Im never looking black to blender after seeing how much my work has improved in quality by ditching it.

there are so goddamn many blender defenders for some reason, and i'm starting to think it's because they don't want to learn another workflow, or maybe using anything that isn't FOSS is against their moral code or something.
i started learning 3d modeling when i was 14 or so, in blender because it was free and i didn't know much about piracy. idk how many times i gave up and restarted after a few weeks because of how fucking frustrating the UI is/was, especially back then. trying to learn how to do anything in that program feels more difficult than actually making something.
fast forward like 6 months when someone tells me about 3ds max and the free student license, so i start learning that instead. it was like flipping a switch, everything you could ever need is 2 or 3 clicks. idk how you can suck blender's dick so incredibly hard even after 5 hours in 3ds max.

i'm not even shitting on blender btw, it's hard af to use but you can absolutely get professional results from it with enough time and effort. also, good on the people that refuse to use autodesk/adobe software because they wanna buy it first, but i personally don't mind paying after i've gotten some capital from what the software has allowed me to do.

Not a blender-fag (as in I use Blender but only for what's it good at) but 3ds Max is the worst software I ever came to use. Inuitive as fuck and Blender actually mogs every major modeling softwares when it comes to polymodeling.

I use blender for modeling, sculpting, retopo, texturing, rigging, animations, simulations and video editing and i think it is great. I give 0 shits about anyone elses opinion.
I actually spend some time doing creative work instead of making posts on 4chan about how much you think blender sucks.
A lot of Maya users has migrated to blender already and if you are a Maya employee i understand your frustration, i'm sorry it sucks to be you.

First of all i have never talked down any 3D apps, all i'm saying is that blender works well for me and i can do just about everything i want in one app. For being a professional 3D modeler you seem to worry too much about what total strangers tells you in a random post on the internet, why so butthurt?
I am more of a musician myself and blender is just a hobby on the side, but even though i am a musician i don't go buy silly expensive studio equipment with Pro Tools, automated mixing tables, professional monitors and what not. It doesn't stop me from making music and i like the concept of making the most out of what i have instead of only relying on automated methods with predictable results.

the real issue is that blender is perfect for physics simulations.
it's also prefect for making game assets, which is all 3d is good for any longer since movies suck now.
there is no reason to not use blender since it's free and extremely easy to use.

Most I need for modeling in Blender is RetopoFlow, and even then it's not too difficult to retopologize without it.
3DS Max has a lot of interesting modifiers and doohickeys, I'll give it that, but it's so irritatingly unintuitive to even use to where I can hardly see that as a selling point anymore.
