The thing is that Arnold GPU is a bug ridden mess. You're forced into using CPU mode when it inevitably stops working in GPU mode. The only solution is to sidestep this hassle and always use CPU mode or pay megabux and use redshift

it's very very slow for interiors though, but it's just the nature of the beast

the non-existent ipr is a hot mess though.
