sir, kind reminder that /3/rd world only discusses industry standard software.

it's mainly used for motion graphics which is why it's integrated into after effects.

I also wonder. When I went to school (more than decade ago) C4D was top notch and they used to teach us with it. Later I stopped doing /3/ stuff, switched fields completely. Ffw ten years, I started playing with 3D purely on hobby level and while I immediately went with Blender (because it is free) I am still wondering why Cinema pretty much does not exist for this board.

I still use c4d as my primary modelling program desu. I like the UI/UX most compared to the other major shit
fewer plugins on cgp tho, so I got everything installed for whatever usecase I need them for

the interests of this board are usually
1. make pornography
2. make video games
C4d is not popular for either of those tasks, it is godawful a lot of creation work actually it literally doesn't support UDIMs by default so I literally just could not use it for my work at all.
If you wanna make motion graphics (tv stuff etc.) or shitty simulation videos for instagram it's the go-to and nobody here wants to do that shit.

I use it for porn.
I should learn Blender because it's simply better for everything, but I'm not bothered enough with C4D to move. If you wanna do character animation, though, yeah, C4D's not the best choice. It's not a terrible choice either. I'm ignoring the steep price for a license, though.
>>915511
Yeah, the pre-R25 UI is so god damn good. I don't mind 3DS Max UI, so I think I'm not a complete tard who can ONLY use Cinema, but I can't stand Blender's UI.
For industry software C4D has always been playing catch-up, and the gap is only getting wider. Even the newfangled WIP Scene Nodes don't seem to have much traction compared to Blender's Geometry Nodes.

C4D is used by pretentious Instagram "artists", no matter how good the software is, I really want nothing to do with it or that "community". Not that the alternatives are much better. Cult of Blender and Autocucks are just as bad.

That's already a retarded mindset with vidya. Caring about Instagram thots in regards to using 3D software is something else.

Its ok but too expensive for what it does. Maxon you need to lower your prices... even Autodesk offers full versions of Maya for ~20 a month lol.
Pretty much all of the 3D software is very affordable these days, except yours.
Sure, Marvelous is a little pricey but they have a much more interesting niche.
Maxon One does not simply offer enough to be worth 99 bucks a month!! You guys are huffing glue over there...

New #C4D is out!
β’ Vertex maps work on parametric objects (no more need to make objects editable!)
β’ New soft body dynamics with stickiness feature
β’ New symmetry hub that allows you to easily model/sculpt symmetrically without a Symmetry Object
Whatβs your favorite feature?
Anonymous at Fri, 9 Sep 2022 17:09:11 UTC No. 917365
>>917353
For porn, the new mixing soft body simulation with animation feature sounds amazing. Finally you can do proper dynamic jiggly bits.
Being able to use vertex maps on primitives and stuff is cool, even if I mostly use them on polygonal objects. I hope vertex maps on skinned objects can now be affected by other skinned objects; last time I tried that in R20, one of the objects didn't take the Skin deformer into account. Maybe I only messed up with priorities, who knows.
Also,
>topological symmetry
Nice.

"Hate" is a strong word. I think /3/ just doesn't care, or is too busy in Blender/Autodesk fights. I enjoy using C4D for box modelling, but it isn't the best software for sculpting, UV unwrapping, or animation. But for making a prop for a game or cartoon? Geometry first in C4D, then export to somewhere else for the rest.

Yeah c4ds poly modelling toolkit is actually really logical and reasonable just the supports around it for asset creation like the UVs etc. are awful man. Works out okay for them because most c4d users don't model stuff

I'm not criticizing blender, I'm criticizing the retards that shill it from the rooftops.
For what it's worth, I use it too. But I'm not going to shit on someone for using something else if it works for them (except maybe C4D if they regurgitate Beeple shit). I use it because I know it, and it works for me. I'm not about to try and force it on anyone else or try to pretend like it has an edge over anything else. Skill is the only real thing that shows at the end of the day when using a program. Different ones might offer different speeds to do things or offer novel workflows, but you can pretty much make the same thing in anything.
>>917276
It is what it is.
For what it's worth, I wasn't going to use it in the first place. No use chucking a decade's worth of experience in one program to use C4D. If I were to do that, I'd probably just use Maya or Max.
C4D is in some kind of weird middle zone. Not industry standard (except maybe for mograph) so it's not super widely adopted, and it's not free, so it doesn't have a bunch of people picking it up. Which leaves the majority of people using it being the same crowd that acts like Apple is the bee's knees (and can't get viruses), huff their own farts, and work on shit in Starbucks.
Like I said, it is what it is.
