3DS Max was what I started out with in the prison AutoCAD program. As long as you paid for the class you had access to a computer about 8 hours a day that had 3DS Max on them. It's not that bad of a program.

Op here i downloaded the latest 2023 version of max from cgpeers and had no issue like that. No autodesk launcher app or anything.

There is only one true pleb filter in the 3D (media) industry and that is Houdini.
Max is not "special", it is the most powerful 3D generalist program of them all and one of the 3 big original pillars the industry is standing on, but it is itself the definition of "ordinary" because it invented it.
Ordinary and normal is actually good - it gets shit done because it is fundamentally aligned with reality and truth.
EVERYBODY wants to be "special", people who don't are rare - which actually makes them special and everybody who wants to be special - "normal".

i've been using max since it was called 3D Studio and then owned by discrete.
i still have my max 7 cd key, the year before autodesk got the program. this was the last version that was any good if im honest.
GMAX was probably one of the coolest thing to ever happen to the games/animation industry.
blender is shit.
