Has the perception of Blender replacing Maya and ZBrush for professional work and not just being a tool for amateurs changed?
>3 years ago; absolutely no
>1 year ago; only for a few independent artist and small studios
how is it now?

>maya
yes for modeling
never for animation
>zbrush
no

Blender is fine for modeling but for animation and sculpting it's still light-years behind.

just dont ask for texture painting capabilities.

Skills are transferable, learn what is the best right now and if people start swapping to blender learn that, it don't take that long

The industry gives 0 fucks about tools. The fundamentals are too solid.
Spending a day to relearn hotkeys is just what fucking ever.

If you use something, its either because the pipeline forces it, or it has something other tools can't do.
Blender has the potential to spend time and money changing its tool to make it better than the industry standard, but the pragmatism and work involved means it might not happen.

Why does this has to be such a fucking loaded question? Are you retarded?
>Blender replacing Maya and ZBrush for professional work
replacing....
where does this idea come from?
It wont.
The industry isn't one singular blob organized like a Hive-mind but Millions of people doing individual and often very different things.

>....and not just being a tool for amateurs?
another stupid assumption which makes this whole question a perfect example of an false dichotomy.
Only absolute retards have the perception that Blender will replace other programs and only retards believe that Blender is just a tool for amateurs.
Both of your stupid assumptions are wrong and therefor the whole question is wrong.
