Bro, I'll use VSE for simple shit like cutting videos and stuff, but VSE doesn't have anything to do with grading or compositing.
I've looked into trying to grade in Blender, but the unfortunate truth is that Blender doesn't accept color grading LUTs which is a big factor in color grading.
You don't "neeeed" LUTs and you can get by with the "color balance" node in the compositor, which I do in some cases, but really you should be moving your grading to something like Nuke or Resolve instead. Resolve is free by the way.
If you want to do very basic grading inside blender, the curves and color balance nodes are your friends, but they really are the bare minimum, and if you're serious about it you should move that part to a different program.
