Why does it still look so distorted after I rendered it with over 2000 samples?

you need to use a spectral renderer like luxcore to be able to sample into those areas effectively

So you're saying this is about as good as it gets with blender cycles?

Because you are using a bad render engine.

>Generalist tool is worse at doing a "thing" than a specialize software build around the "thing".
>wtf why can blender be just as good??? wtf I just want to use blender but get same results if not better!!!!
If you use a software that has to improve 1 million things to keep up don't be amazed when a software that have to improve 10 things performs better at a single task.

This is why compositing is a thing, and why most professionals will complete a single project using more than 5 different tools. Use the best tool for the job.
I'm a total Blenderfag, and I only use Blender, but I'm also not a professional. Blender is not the "best" tool for any job. It's a very good generalist tool that will get you at least most of the way there on every front. It's a great all-in-one for hobbyists and learners, but if you want the absolute best results, you should be looking elsewhere. If you want the absolute best results for every stage in the pipeline, you look a lot of different places.

luxcore is free nigger. why handicap yourself with only using cycles. just download luxcore like he said, and install it in blender.
