Why do Westoids do this? Why does it even get published and score them major points for lazily raping both the character design and style?

I don't get what's the problem.
3D characters will always have different amounts of stylization compared to drawn ones.
That's not even due to preference but also how the model should be rendered. If you are using a PBR renderer you need more realism in the model than using a pathtracer.
That said I even find it refreshing that people are trying instead of ripping mmd models.

Yes, but isn't that better than straight out ripping a 3D asset won't you think?

Like the toon town chuckie doll in the link It's not anime style, not even for a semi-realistic character. It's not even faithful to the original design which doesn't even require her to be over the top eroge-bait. IOW It's not a good character design. This iteration just tells the story of a an uncanny looking android with mannequin face operating as a bud light chugger who's on her way to work at the strip club after attending a cosplay convention. The tight ass leather jacket is bad enough (Yoko outright tells you tersely the philosophy behind her design in the first episode) but the gloves are pointless and stupid for not being fingerless.
At the end of the day everyone involved with 3D, especially sculpting, needs to ask themselves are they artists or just mindless and fundamentaless 3D printers who just happen to use a stylus but don't have the motor skills to even draw a proper circle.
Pic related is semi-realism done right.

Perhaps that's what they were going for, idk.
Also skill wise it's definitely at the beginner level so given them some slack.

Well, that's leaning more towards the realism side. Ironically this style only requires daz and a bunch of pirated assets to reproduce even if it's harder to do from scratch.

It's in the last Zbrush tutorial pdf that can be found in the documentations folder after you install the software. I'm just saying it's part of an overall pattern. I can give some slack because this was before Sakaki arrived on the scene and was giving out free stuff, as well as with anime to 3D, especially semi-realistic balance, being on the difficult side with people still struggling to get the style right just in 2D with all the resources they have now. That doesn't mean that the wrong artist should be given spotlights and interviews. At least get a Jap to do it.

That applies more to his Miko model. I'd say he gets the balance right like you would see in a Final Fantasy character and you get stylized character and that's more apparent with juxtaposition. It's not like pic related that looks like a real woman cosplaying.

Very cool in-depth opinion

Yeah they don't seem to or think their kitsch vision always turns shit into gold rather than sterling silver. And it's not whether something is good or not in some dick-waving contest that's bothersome here. It's that Westerners have a habit of not self-reflecting on their work "Is this ready? Should I really use this as my final piece? Does it work? Would I put this up next to all these other references and call it anime style? Can I even explain what anime style and the principles behind it? Do I ever take into account the original designer's intent? etc..." It's not a matter of technical skill that will come with practice. It's a mindset and how they approach this stuff. All too commonly found in post-secondary spaces.
