Another dumb thing to add to blender list, calling the move tool a "Shape Key". It's not a shape or a key, dumbest thing i heard all day.

This proves what? The thing works like any other common 3d move tool. "IT hAs MoRE FeATurEs" is not a reason either because Maya had those things before Blender was ever made.

You are confused. Shape keys aren't "the move tool". They're a layer of relative vertex transforms which is applied to the model when you "key" it (in the animation sense). It alters the shape of the mesh when you interpolate between the on and off position of this layer. Hence "shape key".
Every 3d modeling program has support for shapekeys. I don't think blender invented the term either. There's several other terms, like morphs, morph targets and blendshapes that all mean the same thing.

they're blend shapes and they were likely renamed as shape keys to avoid conflicts with corporations

In Maya that is called History or node, it really isn't different from Move tool with history attached to it. I'm sure many other 3D programs offer the same thing but better. Blender way is just asking for problems since it seems like in the Doc it says it cant edit the model after a certain degree. Just say it's the move tool, same action but blender put limits on it.
