Why is vanilla Blender so fucking trash for hard surface? It's like they're actively trying to make it unusable for anything other than overwatch porn
You basically *need* HardOps and Boxcutter to even attempt it and even then you'd be better off just doing it in CAD and porting the model over.

Very few people use Blender to make porn because it's not very good for that either.

I hate every single one of you talentless, tasteless, greeble-kitbash-whatever hacks with a burning passion. Your shitty drag and drop pretend-complexity is NOT hard surface modeling and thank god Blender devs don't port your faggy addons as a software feature. Your models are unimpressive, they reek of someone not putting a single thought into object design and fall apart the second anyone begins asking simple questions about them.

such a mystery...

boxcutter is meant for blocking out your model, aka testing/setting size & proportions, not for actually making a final model in.
considering how fast and structured it is, it's really good for that specific purpose and it is slightly more comfortable to work with than max's keyhydra (free!), which it copied everything from. I personally use max and will probably use it again for blocking out highly complex assets, then take the blockouts to max and make my actual model there as usual.

highly ironic that the very only thing in freeware blender that might have a place in a professional workflow is a paid-for plugin that is based on a freeware 3ds max plugin.

using it for the actual model would be insanely retarded and you are 100% right about the disgusting sci-fi style with kitbashed nonsensical greeble everywhere. not wanting to be forced to create that garbage for a living is why I focused on sculpting, even though I find hard-surface more interesting. it is that repulsive from an artistic point of view.

Ah, I get it. I guess I got riled up by that image.
For blockouts in Blender I just use Bool Tools to speed up the workflow a little.

Because it's a generalist freeware software which specializes in nothing but the bare core features of each area to teach newbies entering 3D for the first time. You're better off using 3ds max.

If anyone BOUGHT the 2.0 course of the BlenderBors on make game assets, can you please share a screenshot of the order of the videos and chapters. I found the course on Rutracker but it's really badly sorted

Anonymous No. 946509

Why blender Bros assets are always so fucking ugly lmao. Their last shape course is awful too, not even worth pirating. They are rolling in money thanks to thee chucked audience

jesus kids are so fucking pampered on hard-surface. Does nobody realize that Opensubdiv crease values exist or something? you really don't need HardOps/BoxCutter for this stuff, learn how to do some actual fucking topology work.

Max is fucking garbage aside from a couple key features. I used it for 15 years and I never want to touch it again.
I have my gripes with Blender, but I seriously will take it over anything else.

post your work, mr. "I have used max for 15 years and blender is superior". it must be incredibly good.

Please just use fusion or some shit for hard surface, blender doesn't work because it's poly based modelling.

Alex Senechal is basically the go to for hard surface tutorials.
