Think it's understandable, what's closer to what you yourself has access too is a lot more interesting than what someone with lots dollars to spend can do with what they have available.

Like I use some expensive proprietary tools and I don't care about what software a piece of art was made in, but as an indie I still have that sentiment to a degree.
Like if I see something amazing looking and learn it was the labor of a huge art team at a AAA studio I don't really care about it much.
But I see something amazing and learn it was work by someone on my scale, then I sit up and take notice even if it's objectively less impressive than the AAA stuff.

Ton is a weird guy but when he was coding he did some interesting stuff. These day however it's all about the highly social Blender people who are even removing whatever he did good piece by piece.

I avoid youtube blender videos like the plague unless they are japanese or korean with eng subs.
