๐Ÿงต Selfcad scrub

Anonymous No. 945701

I've been trying to get into 3d design, i choose selfcad as the software I want to learn to use first, but in not finding good current tutorials, as in like, less than 3 / 5 years old. Would any kind anon point to a good website or video to learn, please.

Never heard of this before but it looks like an absolute shit software meant to be babby's first 3D. Some sort of "worst of both worlds" between CAD and subdivision without any of the tools and features you'd need to make decent models in either type of software.
If you want CAD just learn real CAD. Fusion 360 is free for hobby use

It's what I was looking for, actually. Zbrush, fusion, blender, seem overwhelming to get into modeling, I just wanna make a utility knife

Ok, thanks, yeah I don't know which softwares are good, I just wanted that looked simple and I didn't have to use exclusively on a browser

Np anon. So you are making an utility knife? Lets make it happen. So do you have a draft or a design?

It's something I wanna make myself, but the idea ls in thingoverse there's various designs that are small, like keychain ones, u know basically 3 fingers, but they don't provide much back support, so they are convenient, but not safe for putting pressure on them, I gave one to my dad for his car, u know, it's good to have something like that if u ever need it. He used to open cable, he's gonna open his hand like a moron, has happened before, not even a couple times, more...

Soon found another design that has normal size grip, but the knife it's enclosed , goes into the rectangle knife shaped enclosure, and it's secure by a pressure point, i like it since the blade it's sustained by all sides, but I want that on a small grip, something for a small pocket or keychain, just easily accesible, but safe for morons who like to support themselves on a fucking 2 inches plastic utility blade

Yep I know exactly what you mean. This is my favourite design from thingiverse. I just happen to have it with me. Not the best knife but I have like 10 copies laying all around my house and office.

Not the best for real work but the fact that i can have it all the time in my wallet makes it super useful.

Ok. What are you planning on using a 3d printer or something sturdier?

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3677766 a remix or this one it's the one I gave him, and pic related is the one I liked for supporting the blade, it's on cults

Yep the simplest way to add more support is to simply add more material and width to the whole print. If you need file conversion just tell me. Good luck anon.

you can't get around the complexity of the task at hand by choosing some kind of simplistic software and stubbornly declaring that that is what's going to make it work. if you need actual modeling software, learn actual modeling software. if that is "overwhelming", as you say, then I guess get back to playing fortnite instead of trying to create stuff.
