How long do You spend in the planning phase before you begin the 3d process? For me, I often dont spend enough, and I go straight to 3d, and I end up with garbage

its not a length of time it's certain tasks I need done. I can bang out image plane sketches real quick. That's about all the planning I feel i need before making a character.
