Not sure if this is the right board to ask, but are there any good cheap/free 3d design software for modeling home projects like furniture or industrial parts. I have experience with SolidWorks, but it's a little too pricey for me and my free license ran out

Fusion 360 is free for personal use and I was able to pick it up pretty quickly coming in with experience in Solidworks and Inventor. I wouldn't recommend FreeCAD at all, janky open-source shit that's missing a ton of features. Bit like the GIMP to Solidworks' Photoshop.

Blender is trash for precision modeling.
Try snapping to a global grids in Blender. See what happens. Watch as your 1' by 1' square tile becomes a 1.00088' by 1.00044' rectangle when you move it.

If you can't calculate the color of each pixel by hand, you're a scrub.
