๐Ÿงต How do I make ground textures for video games?

Anonymous No. 952200

I google online for grass textures and they look too realistic for me, too high definition. how do I make it look like it looks in stylized or anime games or visual novels?

just take a look on how they look on your favourite game/cartoon and copy them?

actually though, do this

I suck fuck at texturing but I can model. Stable Diffusion can get you seamless textures in like 12 seconds. It's amazing for rapidly prototyping

find a tutorial online on how to install stable diffusion/automatic1111
(if you have a shitty old computer then don't bother)

for this example, I used the prompt:
"A stylized grass texture with a hand drawn look, optimized for a videogame. The grass is green with sparse yellow flowers. It has an organic, messy look with visible brush strokes. The texture is seamless and 512x512 pixels."

check the tiling box, so it outputs textures that actually tile (if you want that). Can even leave everything else at default.

My actual workflow is usually much more involved with photoshopping and tweaking to my liking, but that example posted above was literally the first generated image it gave me and was immediately put into blender in a process that took me under a minute... which used to take me more like 30 minutes

Thanks I'll do that. I actually wanted to learn how to do photoshop for it, any good tutorials that show how people draw their own ground textures? I genuinely want to learn, and don't mind drawing I just would like a good tutorial for it.
