What are your guys opinion on it? Any 3d Coat users here?
I'm really tempted to try it, but the horrible interface and lack of tutorials is really putting me off. Can we get a /3/ consensus on here?

From what I've heard is that they have absolutely retarded copy protection that may fuck with your system so I'm not touching that shit with a 10ft pole.

My first tango with it was very frustrating. But after I found a youtube video that explained basic navigation it wasn't so bad.
It's the best software for hand painting your models. You can even link it to photoshop if you wanna do some edits there, on the fly. It's probably also the best software for manual retopology that I've seen.

Just pay for it

It's good for some specific stuff like
- 3D free form sketching similar to Gravity sketch
- Retopo
-Hand painting textures

Learning is a bit of a pain because you're looking at forum dumpster diving and searching 10 years old YT videos to find the features , best if you get some tutorials series that explain basic workflows and shortcuts

this is exactly why I quit using it
I loved how customisable it seemed, and the retopo features were fantastic
but fucking nobody uses it and I spent far too long trying to figure shit out
It actually convinced me to switch to blender, since there's far more tutorials and an actual community surrounding it.

No I meant the copy protection of the REAL THING, the bought one. Legal software often comes with protection that can actually cripple your system.

interface, lack of cohesive tutorials, and just dog shit way of doing certain functions pushed me away.

rizom for uvs,
zbrush for sculpting,
substance for texturing,
maya / topogun 3 for retopo

switching between them takes a second and you get the best of all worlds.

yeah I think it's gonna need heavy investment in revamping in UI/UX and creator shill like Blender 2.8 and Plasticity to make the onboarding process better.

Never use software made by ESLs. Period.
