To be fair even vanilla, plain old D.va sucking a plain cock NSFW animation is littered with very subpar work. There's like 5 really good animators in the whole space, at most. Still, building an audience isn't going to be done overnight, and I doubt you can live on commissions even if you're one of the top names (but then you don't have to, look at the likes of Nagoonimation, he makes plenty just off the Patreon).

3d comissions suck so much ass indeed, normies don't have the money to pay what 3d modelling is actually worth and the insane amount of time required to make models compared to 2d art so it's never really worth it. The most i've seen a 3d artist ask catering to normies-coomers is 600$ per a full character model with some clothes which is just not enough at all if you count how many hours you'd spend on it, and people just aren't willing to pay any more than that, it's a dead end
