for example, they skirted around the fact it couldn't render volumes in xpu mode by making it able to render them exclusively through one, extremely limited volume shader that it's literally just for previewing smoke, and then called it Feature Complete****
basically the equivalent of using alpha transparency and claiming it can render glass.
if only mantra wasn't such a fucking unbearable slog...

unironically what I do, but I have a legacy perm license from before the maxon jewery. and yet, it's still going to expire next summer and won't be able to renew it.
if I didn't have that, I wouldn't know. once that's also over, it'll probably be good for a few more months, but I'm unironically hoping and coping karma will get better by then. amongst 3d software companies, sidefx is the only one who could actually pull it off and that's saying something. fuck giving money to the germs at maxon, ever.
