Megascans will go behind a paywall at the end of 2024.
Or something like that. Epic just sent out a vaguely worded email:
- Megascans will be available through Fab starting in October
- Megascans will be 'free' till the ***end of 2024***
- New pricing model will be introduced
- Some Megascans will remain free
- Megascans content you got for free will still be in your account (probably?)
- Bridge will be discontinued (?)
options:
1. Add every megascans item to your account now and pray epic lets you keep them
2. Buy a new harddrive and download everything now
3. Hope that everything free now will remain free as legacy content

if you want to claim all items on the quixel store now you can use this script:

this DOES NOT guarantee that you'll have them once things more to fab in a week or so.
you will probably have to claim everything on fab again before 2025 to keep all the items forever.
i'll post another script when it inevitably shows up.

DOES ANYONE HAVE A BATCH FILE TO DOWNLOAD ALL ASSETS? bridge is painfully slow and stops after downloading 10 assets or so and needs to be restarted the full library is probably around 20-30TB

people are just waiting for the move to fab before doing anything else. move is scheduled for mid-oct so another couple of weeks at least
sweeny confirmed that if you get them on fab before 2025, you keep them
that said, rigging up a quick downloader in something like python shouldn't be too difficult, you could probably get chatgpt or claude to spit out the code if you know a little bit of python

I rather be safe, the wording is very vague, they is no confirmation that the assets will be still hosted for free in 2025. If we can download them next year thats great, if not Im good too.

For what it's worth (not sure why I'm using that phrase), I was on a plan that used points for quixel, and from what I've seen it doesn't consume my points anymore.
I've copped tons of shit that's way outside how many points I have (68), and I still have the same amount.

Your best option now is to just download everything right now.
