Most memes nowadays are forced, Pepe and Wojack based ones especially. Even likable stuff like the Boomer were forced via a spam campaign. There's no way a single joke could last 10+ years with multiple mutations without being actively pushed down people's throats.
Glegle is only different in that it didn't have people posting it on every board and ban evading just to post it some more, like NPC, Cuumbrain/Coomers, Boomer, etc.
