Same template as the news if it ever feels like being honest, LARP anon. Who, what, when, where, why, how. Not necessarily in that order. Why was your character upset that she ruined the stew she was making for everyone? Was there someone or someone's she was trying to impress and now that won't happen? When the man couldn't pay the monthly rent, what was really eating at him? He still has a job, doesn't he? Can't he get an extension for just one month of being late, even if he has to pay a penalty? Etc. Dare to give your characters painful challenges they can't always pass. Give them a way out if you want people to like your story. Too much sadness traps you like the Funky Winkerbean writer. It became all misery, aka, dreck.
