SEV has been over for a long time. The first Artemis mission is exploring a permanently shadowed crater to investigate frozen volatiles. So the scientists said use an unpressurized rover because otherwise opening an airlock could contaminate the science. It's quite funny that NASA spent a bunch of time on pressurized rovers for when we go back to the moon, but not only will a souped up golf cart do, they have to use one. Not contaminating volatiles is pretty important because they're of geopolitical interest.

Remember that last time we were literally only waiting on those fags at the FWS, which required congress to threaten them to finish it up. Now that the FAA and FWS has been politically threatened, and FWS arent even in the picture for this launch approval, it should come much faster.

He also gave us Artemis which stapled SLS, the remnants of Asteroid Retrieval Mission, and commercial space into a manned moon landing program. It's hard to overstate what a big shift that was actually having real plans to GO somewhere again instead of jerking off to "maybe in 20 years" design studies. That's why "we are going" is such a big meme at NASA. The Artemis Accords were also a brilliant bit of space policy and foreign relations, such that Biden didn't even fucking blink about continuing where Mango Mussolini left off, in contrast to many other sensible policies like the timetable for Afghanistan or walling off Mexico.

2024 will be the deorbit of 95% of starlink, and a new panel of land use regulators at boca Chica to perform a more in depth analysis of the site for launches and tests
BO will delay new Glenn by another year
ULA will launch between 0-7 rockets next year
Astra will get sued by their shareholders and go bankrupt
Terran will explode again (hehe)
Boeing will find an issue and delay crewed starliner til 2025
Falcon 9 will launch around 50-80 rockets next year with new regulation forcing them to slow down
Artemis will delay a crewed flight until 2025 due to hardware not being ready (the bolt approval committee missed 4 weeks of appointments)
BO will sue to stop further development of lunar landers again due to issues with their pathfinder
China will secretly delay their starship competitor due to engine issues
India will cancel their crew launch program (stinky)

When they get to a point where the flights succeed at everything they put in the flight plan with the FAA (i.e. booster soft lands in ocean and ship reenters and soft lands near Hawaii for these last two flights) so they don't need a mishap investigation every time. They'll still need a new license every time for the foreseeable future probably, but once things start going as planned that'll become a quick signoff they can possibly even get before flight readiness.

I bet for actual V2 designs, they'll just scale up the V2 mini to full size and instead of launching 50 satellites, they'll launch 25 that can hit ~440Gbps per satellite instead. Each satellite can address a bigger cone on the ground, can deliver more bandwidth, and all ultimately reduces the total number of satellites in orbit per shell to reduce orbital clutter fears. 4,000kg per satellite instead of 2,000kg as suggested.

Maybe, but dropping the goal from 12,000 satellites to 8,000 satellites while achieving the same amount of bandwidth or greater overall in the network would be a better outcome and I can see the FCC being more amicable to the change as the total potential for orbital debris is exponentially reduced. The ultimate goal of the megaconstellation and network is to be able to service users at scale while addressing bandwidth and latency issues at a reasonable and repeatable metric. I can't possibly see a scenario where a reduction of total satellites while satisfying all the other requirements or exceeding them, would be viewed negatively.

There's no excuse for giving your inane opinions about a game you have literally never played yet act hard done by. 30-60 FPS on 4k max settings with a relatively new midrange card is perfectly acceptable performance for a simulation game, by the time version 1.0 drops that will probably be achievable on entry level cards. People are already playing it on a fucking Steam Deck.

Pretty sure each v2 mini is >100gbps cause I remember some tweet saying that each F9 launch adds more than 2tbps to the network, and F9 carries around 20 sats each time

Update on the poll:

>2024 13%
03/2024 33%
02/2024 47%
01/2024 7%

According to Kathy Lueders (SpaceX general manager for Starbase launch site in Brownsville):
"It would be great if we were in the first quarter, definitely," she said. "Elon [Musk] obviously would probably say the end of December, but I don’t think we’ll get there.”

saw it live, will never forget. the amazing news of the victory was tarnished somewhat by the fact they failed 4x in a row droneship landing so had to go for the easy mode land touchdown first, but amazing nontheless.
Both spaceX and BO used to allow live chat on their YouTube streams. On the SpaceX one during the landing attempts the energy was unmatched, and the BO one was an absolute travesty which sometimes appeared to have no mods.
