Has science ever investigated or discovered an explanation for the extremely high suicide rate amongst atheists?
You would expect a group of people who don't believe in reincarnation or life after death to have a low suicide rate, so the high suicide rate amongst atheists seems to defy rationality, is atheism irrational?

Yes it's because Christians are threatened with being sent to hell where they'll be tortured for eternity if they commit suicide. Atheists are not beholden to such a delusion. Being atheist also does not prevent them from believing in reincarnation

God provided the moral/grounded foundations for everything in the world for most of whites. With God being dunked on by science, what's left is an empty void. That is either filled by something coherent in both moral and grounding or it gets filled with nihilism/relativism. Where nothing matters, no means to life, no concrete basis for any belief, etc. Thats the reality for some of these atheists. Its a logical conclusion of killing God.
Ofcourse, you dont have to buy into God to have a moral foundation and a grounded foundations. You have other religions like Buddhism that provide the complete package without resorting to God. And as such, many atheists are also drawn to Buddhism because it completely overturns the old God foundation and creates a new grounding based upon our understanding of consciousness.

They believe in stupid things, such as there is no life after death and that nothing matters in this world. You don't want to grow up to become one of these brain damaged lunatics that believes in false truths throughout your entire life, it would naturally imply that you are stupid, for not considering that there is a spiritual component to life and for having brain damage which makes you unable to identify a threat to your life, like how it's not safe to support the party that allows open borders and encourages black people to go around and kill any white person they see on the street.
Do you see what I'm getting at? Ever notice how there are more people on antidepressants that are democratic than republican. It plays a huge role in your personal belief system.
Believe in a God that judges you for all your actions, words said, and thoughts that you have thought. Or atleast believe that there is a heaven, an afterlife that we depart to after death where you are to be judged. These 2 things alone inspire a person to have hope despite the perilous times we live in and allow us to stay strong.

There are two types of atheists and therefore two explanations.
The first type of atheist is maldeveloped and mentally ill. Humans are naturally religious. As such, a normal, healthy, well developed person scores high in religiousity. A low score in religiousity is a deviation from the norm, or in other words a mental illness. Needless to say, suicide correlates very high with mental illness.
The second type of atheist has otherwise normal physical and mental development and therefore scores high in religiousity. However they have lived their entire life in an unhealthy environment devoid of religion or spiritual belief. Although ostensibly they are atheist, they fill the spiritual void that their psyche naturally demands with a surrogate religion by embracing nihilistic or anti-life ideologies that are toxic to the soul and lead to meaningless, poor mental health, unhealthy lifestyle, and ultimately suicide.
