Why suffer yourself by seeking the ultimate truth of the universe when you can simply drop out and become the world's richest person?

Really he's probably had a bigger impact on science than he ever would have as a scientist, just through all the research Amazon and his other endeavours have done. It's something that people should be more aware of, that if you want to contribute to science you don't necessarily have to become a scientist. If you're any good at making money you can always pay scientists to do the science for you.

yeah never got the whole gorillionaire rich, to me it seems like existing itself, say not in dramatic conditions, average have food to eat and shelter is like ~80% the life of a billionaire, considering the whole 70-90 years of basically experiencing reality the same (yeah clearly not all that can be experienced), but driving a car feels the same for both a poor and a rich dude. again, considering no serious drama along the way for either. sure that extra cash gets you particular experiences, clearly. but if you had a choice between being poor, being rich, and not being....being poor is a good portion of being rich, as compared to not existing at all.
it's like in audiophoolery, the last 5% costs 1000000% more than the first 95%.

Sounds like a lot of work, I'd rather just keep reading my books on my uncle's ranch.
I won't pretend to understand or frankly even care about humanity, but I really have no interest in helping science either. My thoughts are my own, I don't see any value in sharing them.
I get it though, you shouldn't do things out of some bizarre arbitrary goal for attention and onanism. I graduated college at 18 and then I went to go to graduate school and I realize there that I didn't know why I was there. Nothing I was doing made sense, I was merely doing what I was told made sense, using praise as a measure of correct action. People are different, I doesn't make sense to live just to be rather than not, but rather I should be so that I could live.
From that ooze I rose, and in a desolate plain I walked until I could run and when I ran I found footsteps of men in front of me and as i chased them i met where they ended. I looked back and I still only saw their tracks, where were my own? the shores makes it look as it we had never existed as we wander close to that place we came from. Then I see it, when I has come over the hills in pursuit, I had found the absence of doubt and the proof of value. That light leads where all men go, and so I knew who I was: I was him, the princeps. I will go to that place, that place of divine convergence.

Alternatively we could stop letting capitalists gatekeep science by handing them control over our stolen surplus value. You praise him for the scraps he returns to you but forget how much of what he hoards could have been put to use funding all sorts of research. But he's only interested in personal vanity projects. We don't need billionaires to direct science. We just need to be able to support scientists to do it. It's just that billionaires have wormed themselves into the position where, in our current economic structure, they get to call the shots.

I'm not really praising him. I think he's a douche. But Amazon has produced more research than he could have done alone. I've used some of it myself. They had some research on named entity recognition in neural networks I used, they had it for identifying keywords in large datasets, like detecting product attributes in product titles. Lots of large companies have research departments, ebay does similar research for their marketplace. Just the volume of what they've researched is much more than Jeff could do on his own even if he was an expert. Yes, pretty much all of it is to do with generating profit. But they do make their research publicly available a lot of the time

And he even got divorce raped lmao
The looks pill is so brutal, Chad can be homeless and women would still sleep with him (there are actually stories on reddit of whores taking in and sleeping with random homeless Chads they just met)
Very interesting from a scientific anthropological perspective
