There's a myth that says: once upon a time (wo)man lived in an environment much like the garden of eden where all was green, clean, nutritious and abundant. One day (wo)man made a faustian bargain with industrialization and now everything and everyone is poisoned. But if we repent then one day our environment will be like heaven on earth once again and (wo)man will live forever in health and happiness.

Is it religion that makes modern (wo)man think that our environment is not naturally antagonistic to our wellbeing? Scientifically speaking: is it even theoretically possible that one day we will not be able to find new potential toxins to worry about anymore?
