does anyone in here have a relational database set up for their own lecture notes, summaries, comentaries, proofs, etc...? i'm sure i'm not the first one to think about doing that

you can just use OCR and then search it with your computer without a database. every operating system has a way to index PDFs and other kinds of notes

I don't think a relational database is sufficient for this purpose. Too much variation in data types, width and number of columns, and too heterogenous types of references. Something like a wiki with hyperlinks will probably be more suited for that task.
