Every scientist on anon-philosophy grant is compelled to shit on philosophy to avoid the appearance of encouraging a dollar of funding for their field to be reallocated in the future to a philosopher.

Philosophy in academia is little more than endless butt scratching so most who get their own expose to philosophy that way end up finding it to be worthless pedantic dribble.

I think there's basically 2 reasons (at least in my experience):
1) Generally people who are younger researchers and grew up more in the internet era of research aren't educated in the philosophical side of the discipline. We've separated STEM and liberal arts in many ways, and one consequence of that is that most STEM professionals have next to no understanding of the philosophical underpinnings of the current paradigm (scientific materialism) and likely have not taken a philosophy course beyond (maybe) a research ethics course.
2) The loudest people speaking about these issues are also the most inexperienced. It is easy to believe that your scientific field/sub-field doesn't have any philosophical gaps and is strictly fact-based if you are not actively working towards novel research into open problems. Undergraduate level courses are generally on the portions of the field which are the most established where there is the least grey area, meaning students from these courses often get a false impression that there is very little room for interpretation in their discipline and it's all "just the facts." Proper research experience and spending some time scrutinizing their beliefs about their field will usually beat this out of them, but it takes time.
