If the red volume/area of the chart is smaller than the blue volume/area, then doesn't that suggest a short, intense pandemic may have been less deadly overall than a protracted, drawn-out, lengthened one?

Sure, just like a quick falling off the roof obviously is healthier and less painful than going down the stairs.

if 500 people show up at once at a hospital with gunshot wounds, doctors would probably be overwhelmed and there will be more deaths than if instead 10 people show up every day for 100 days, even though there are more gunshot victims in the second case.

That's the line between nurses doing tiktok dances and doctors popping patient lungs with ventilators.
>>16064825
What if most of those gunshot wounds were from doctors shooting the patients? Wouldn't it be better to stop the doctors from shooting them in the first place than spreading the shootings out over time?

Are you a doctor?
Then don't go an tell them who they can shoot.

Why did nurses and other medical workers have so much extra time on their hands? In all the stock footage we saw presented as many different hospitals around the world, they were slammed.

That's a poor analogy.
A pandemic burns itself out as people catch the illness and a critical number acquire immunity, enough that the disease no longer spreads freely. Flattening the curve involves slowing the spread of the disease and thus delaying the acquisition of immunity by the population. Because the disease is circulating for longer, there are more opportunities for reinfection and mutation than if the disease were permitted to burn itself out more rapidly.

Anonymous No. 16065007

>>16064985
The crucial part you're omitting here is that letting a disease run freely throughout the population would kill a lot of people

Anonymous No. 16065016

>>16065007
In both scenarios, the disease is spreading through the population. In both scenarios, a lot of people are killed.
It's possible that a low-level spread for a longer amount of time leads to more overall deaths than a high-level spread for a shorter amount of time.

How many Doctors we have available at any given time. The problem is it includes those dancing for tik tok.

Anonymous No. 16065202

>>16064985
sure. I just mean it in terms of capacity. if you have more patients than you have staff/beds, you're going to compromise and some people will get worse treatment.
but if you allow the disease to spread in the population for longer, more people get infected. so it's going to depend on how significant the impact of treatment is on survival.
if hypothetically there was a 0% chance of death with treatment, then as long as your healthcare is under capacity, no one dies. people only die when facilities are overloaded.
and the opposite, if treatment doesn't change the outcome, then you want to shorten the total amount of time the infection can exist in the population, and being overloaded doesn't matter.
the reality is between these.

Had we done literally nothing at all but impose voluntary quarantine on the vulnerable, millions fewer people would have died, and the world would not have imploded socially, economically and politically. But saving lives was never the fucking point, quite the contrary.

A full sixty seconds they could have been treating the plague-level number of dying patients, as is their job, or at least taking a break right? Clearly they had enough energy in them to make these tiktok videos. You propogandized faggots will never cease to amaze me.

Just to add further examples: TikTok decides that "pranks" go viral in America. Pranks which are basically pure harassment. The more of a menace to society you are, the more clicks you get. Meanwhile this kind of content is banned in China. If your harass other people and post a video on Chinese TikTok it's being removed. They don't want this shit ruin their society. Do you remember the "Kia challenge"? A bunch of kids were "challenged" to steal cars. Can you imagine this shit would fly in China? Of course not. However, in the US, such society-breaking behaviour went viral. Eight people died. Countless of vehicles were totalled.

Can't you fucking morons just accept that your own fucking government has more incentive, means and power to control you with propaganda than the fucking Chinese? All those Russian/Chinese/Iranian/[insert current geopolitical enemy here] bots are a psyop. It is YOUR OWN GOVERNMENT doing this to you, to keep you stupid and divided, and not worrying about how THEY are fucking you over. China has other things to worry about, like China.
